Anthony Rodriguez, born to Puerto Rican parents and raised in the Bronx, has always known his LIGHT and continues to follow it!
"I began writing songs at the age of twelve, while at the same time, starting to choreograph and explore movement", says Anthony. "I performed at weddings, sweet
sixteen's, churches, any community events. Performing was in my blood". With the natural progression of time and inspiration, Anthony founded La Santa Luz Dance Co.
(Holy Light) in 1997. He is still the artistic director of the company. From that point on, Anthony has counted his blessings and danced for a number of artists;
Prince, Ricky Martin, Tito Puente, Camron, Jennifer Lopez, to name a few. He has choreographed for Marc Anthony, Cyndi Lauper, Don Omar, Beenie Man, DLG, CucoValoy
and many freestyle artists.
Anthony's vision of combining his vocals, choreography, and staging, have come full circle after experiencing a taste of what any upcoming performer would consider
a "Follow your heart" mission. He auditioned and got the part for Madonna's Drowned World Tour in 2001. He finished the first rehearsal and called his Mom screaming,
"I got a solo!" Anthony realizes that he was never off with his visions as a performer. He says: "All of the work confirms it.
Anthony's mission with music is just as strong for dance. When asked recently which do you prefer doing, dancing, singing, or choreography?
He replied, "You see, I've been dancing all my life and it's so external. I know the routine 5,6,7,8. Now the gift of song allows God to speak through me in a much
more intimate way. I mean this is me, my words, experiences, and my story. The need to be on stage for me now is so much stronger than it has ever been IÕm right
where I'm supposed to be". It has not been easy for Anthony to share his gifts with others. But through constant performances and an in your face attitude, Anthony
says: "I'm living like everyone else just trying to get my vision across." Recently, Rodriguez started to take the small steps towards his visionary journey of a
music career and signed a single deal with indie label MisWax records for the song which he co-wrote "Boricua Lover" this song highlights his unique sound which is
Latin/Pop/Dance with flamenco rhythms and a Nuyorican sound. The song which is a great way to introduce Anthony Rodriguez to the world as a recording artist is
blazing through the record pools and getting amazing reviews. With a talent like Rodriguez, you are receiving the complete package, artistry, high energy
performances, unique style, fresh new choreography, and lyrics that make you feel. He is a rising star, who intends to expand the passageways for the Latin
community through music and dance.
"I'm alive, I'm here to grow and learn, learn more about myself, others and to leave something to remember. Inspire baby, inspire that's my calling like it or not!"
